WOBA 2017 Finalists Announced

The crème de la crème of West Oxfordshire businesses gathered yesterday evening to find out the finalists of this year’s hotly contested West Oxfordshire Business Awards (WOBA) at the Celebration of Business Event held by Burford Garden Company.

The WOBA 2017 finalists include:
·      Sassi, a ladies wear boutique in Witney founded by two working mums who offer affordable fashion with a promise to only stock one of each item (WOBA finalist: NFU Mutual Retail Award)
·      Teddy Tennis, a company that’s created a sports education programme by combining music, pictures and teddy bear characters to teach tennis to children (WOBA finalist: Owen Mumford Innovation Award)
·      Torpedo, a multi award winning business-to-business creative marketing agency with over 50 employees (WOBA finalist: The MGroup Employer of the Year Award)

Jo Sensecall of the WOBA organising team comments: “Everyone who entered this year’s WOBAs should be proud to be a part of our thriving West Oxfordshire business community.  The Celebration of Business Event gave all entrants the opportunity to network as well as celebrate their hard earned success. The WOBA team is delighted to see so many new, as well as familiar, businesses revealed as finalists for WOBA 2017 and look forward to finding out the WOBA winners on 7 April.”

WOBA 2017 finalist, Lucy Lavers, Managing Director of Push Start Marketing, said: “`I am overjoyed.  I was shortlisted last year and worked so hard to create a winning business so whether I win or not, I am chuffed to pieces!”

The winner of each WOBA category is automatically considered by judges for an opportunity to be crowned the STL Communications West Oxfordshire Business of the Year 2017.

The trophy for the West Oxfordshire Business of the Year, designed by art and design students from Abingdon & Witney College and made by Witney charity Synolos, was revealed at yesterday’s event.

WOBA winners will be announced at a glamorous Gala Dinner taking place 7 April 2017. Please visit the website for more information woba.org.uk

Fundraising will take place the Gala Dinner for WOBA 2017 charity, HENRY – Health Exercise Nutrition for the Really Young.  The organisation has been running a Healthy Families Programme through Children’s Centres across the UK since 2009 and has reached 8,000 families.
