TrustOnTap wins Southern Oxfordshire New Business Competition
A unique online service for care that enables older people to stay at home independently has won the Southern Oxfordshire New Business Competition (SONBC) 2017, supported by Olympic rowing gold medalist, Tim Foster OBE, and organised by business mentors and commercial property landlords, Jennings.
TrustOnTap was set-up by two business partners from Long Wittenham during November 2015 and works by offering older people and families direct access to carers. The website already has over 50 carers registered online offering services 35% cheaper than elsewhere and removes the need for a domiciliary care agency.
Older people or family members simply view a carer’s profile to find their perfect match and can select from a number of different services on offer including meal preparation, gardening, house maintenance, administration, transportation, general home help and personal care & hygiene.
Nick Grant, co-founder of TrustOnTap, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won the Southern Oxfordshire New Business Competition 2017. We started with a bold dream back in 2015, seeking to change the way we care for older people in our communities across Oxfordshire. Just over a year later, we are achieving that dream. We now have a brilliant team of trustworthy and motivated carers who are helping older and vulnerable people throughout the county and we look forward to growing our team of carers and helping many more people over the coming years.”
As winner’s of SONBC 2017, organised by commercial property landlords and business mentors, Jennings, TrustOnTap will receive a prize package worth over £10,000 including an office at Monument Business Park and a host of professional services provided by SONBC sponsors: Blooberry Design, Ask4Support Ltd, Mushroom Soufflé and Clark Howes.
SONBC runner up was Active Paws, a business that offers many different training courses for dogs to improve their fitness and behaviour, in addition to therapeutic work and conditioning.
Olympian, Tim Foster OBE and his wife, Joy Foster, presented TrustOnTap and Active Paws with SONBC awards on 7 April 2017 at Monument Business Park. The event was also attended by the SONBC sponsors and judges.
Tim Foster, said: “My wife and I would like to congratulate TrustonTap and Active Paws for beating off stiff competition from a thriving Southern Oxfordshire business community. To be named winner and runner up of SONBC 2017 is a huge achievement and we wish them every success.”
Chris Williams, commercial manager for organiser and sponsor, Jennings, added: “TrustOnTap and Active Paws have strong teams in place with ambitious business development plans. Judges saw growth potential in both businesses and we hope that SONBC 2017 will help to raise their profile and add to their continued success.”
